Project Type: Recreational Park
Location: Tansen, Nepal
Site Area: 27,095.31 m²
Year: 2025
Project Description:
The core idea of the project is to create an inclusive, safe, and contextually rich urban park that responds to the diverse needs of women, children, and the community. The design follows the theme, “Empowering Spaces: A Layered Landscape of Movement, Healing, and Belonging.” It reflects the spaces that allow for visibility, participation, comfort, and care. Each zone of the design contributes to physical, emotional, and social well-being, forming a continuous landscape of engagement and inclusion.
This design envisions a space where women feel seen, safe, connected, and celebrated. The park serves as a place where different needs and rhythms of life meet, from active movement to calm healing, from economic opportunity to social expression. The project honors the spirit of Tansen by using local materials, creating public gathering spaces, and adding symbolic elements. A market space highlights local Dhaka fabric, supports women vendors, and reflects cultural identity. Furthermore, the use of locally available stone in the built blocks represents the design in its context, adding a strong sense of authenticity.
